BRIDGE POULTRY & FLOODING

Hudson is well known to the hard working officers of the Wealden District Council. He has campaigned for improvements to an adjacent slaughterhouse ( Bridge Poultry Supplies Ltd. Stream Lane, Horam, ) since 1978. He claims that Wealden's officers gave a convicted fraudster a pecuniary advantage by consenting to a gravity foul sewage  run that ran uphill ( on drawing 2616 of WD/77/1449/X ), ( a gravity run would have involved paying a yearly rent to Mr. H ), and that their officers ( via  maladministration  INV S/399/80 )  saved that same fraudster money by allowing him not to implement the entrance improvements he
had  agreed to. He was accused of waging a "personal vendetta" by the  Leader of the Council Mrs. Valerie Chidson, has been told that he is a "a bad loser" and that he has been conducting a "vitriolic campaign" by Cllr. Mrs. Kiernan ( 01435 812198 ). Quite clearly Mr. H  is off his trolley and a waste of oxygen.  Let us see just how ridiculous Mr. H.'s flooding  claims are. He maintains that the first part of a four part problem starts on rainy days when water runs off Bridge Poultry's tarmac in two rivulets and into the western end of a subway ( designed to carry traffic, not water ), in the ownership of the Wealden District Council. He claims that this is a photograph of this happening:-

P. 1  The western end of the subway on a rainy day.

Having flowed through the subway, Mr. Hudson maintains that on some occasions this run-off may then intermingle with effluent emerging from the manhole at the south east entrance to the subway. This effluent may be raw human sewage ( problem 2 ), or processing effluent ( problem 3 ), or contaminated yard effluent ( water that fell in B.P.'s  yard on rainy days )( problem 4 ), or a mixture of  them all. Mr. Hudson claims that the photograph below ( taken on 7/12/00 when it had not been raining ) is human sewage (2) and processing effluent (3). He claims that a fresh turd, a clot of congealed blood, secondary feathers and mounds of internal poultry tissue are clearly visible in this photograph:-

P. 2  Human sewage & processing effluent emerging at the eastern end of the subway.

Furthermore, Mr. H claims that this effluent occasionally floods and forms a lagoon across Stream Lane ( which is a right of way leading to the well used Cuckoo Walk ) and that the reddish tinge in the photograph below is due to chicken blood in the water. He maintains that the scum on the flood water is denatured protein and solidified fat. He maintains that any car going to or from Bridge Poultry would have to drive through this flood, and anyone walking a dog would have to negotiate this lagoon. The Environmental Health Officer D. Cudd Esq. said on 17/2/98 in response to his Duty Officer's log book comment that the nature of the emergency was "Sewage overflowing" and Mr. H's photo's of 2/1/98 that "If there is a recurring problem with the drainage system....Please let me know and I shall arrange for an officer to investigate the situation". However, on 1/12/00 Mr. Cudd said that "There is no evidence of  a current drainage problem to the best of my knowledge." He also said Thank you for your letter of 27th November 00, I return your photographs [ of egg yolks on Stream Farm's land, and a chicken knee of Wealden's land ]  as requested". One can only hope that with the help of therapy Mr. Hudson will come to accept the reality of the situation.

Finally, Mr. H claims that the lagoon floods across land in the ownership of the Wealden District Council onto land in his ownership. He claims that the effluent may contain Salmonella, E. coli 0157, Campylobacter and Staphylococcus, and that these organisms are known as pathogens because they have the ability to make ordinary people unwell, and unwell people dead. He claims that the appropriate destination for this waste is a sewage works and not his land. He also claims to have studied food microbiology for his Honours degree in Food Science. However, as you can now judge for yourself, Mr. H quite plainly has a degree of mental health problem.

P. 4  The torrent discharging from the lagoon on 7/12/00.

Mr. H. claims that he took this video ( available from him free of charge ( ring 07836 210363 ) ) on 7/12/00, but in view of the E.H.O.'s professional assurance of the 5th. one must assume that Mr. H has been busy fabricating evidence.

Mr. H. claims that these breakdowns are nothing new, and that back in 1983 B.P. used to have a tractor operated vacuum tanker that pumped up the flood and deposited it on B.P.'s field. He further maintains that this is a picture of that tanker ( which had itself broken down ) in the middle of the main road.

He further maintains that he has written lots of letters to the alphabet soup of agencies involved, but nothing has been done.

Mr. H claims that the two other local slaughterhouses ( Webb & Webb and Golden Produce ) used to have filters that removed large particles from their effluent. Mr. Taylor, ( another of Wealden's officers ), says B.P. do have a filter. Mr. H. says that if egg yolks, turds and chicken knees can get through it is not a very effective one.

Furthermore, Mr. H. claims that if you contact Mrs. Kiernan, she will confirm that she was the chair of the Wealden Environmental Health Committee that gave Wealden officers delegated authority to spend £75K pursuing Richard de Rivaz ( 01825 790294 ) in a drainage matter. The officers said it would be a "landmark" case. You will be pleased to hear that it did not involve raw human sewage or pathogens in slaughterhouse effluent, but merely fresh rainwater in "three piddling ditches" ( according to the judge ). You will be sad to hear that the Wealden officers lost. Unfortunately Mr. H.'s video cannot be shown to councillors at their meetings because Wealden do not have sufficient resources to buy a VCR. Mr. H. thinks £75K would buy several VCR's. Wealden pursued Mr. de Rivaz telling him to put in pipes where none had previously existed. They said a ditch was a watercourse, and Mr. de R. offered to do the work if they would tell him why it was necessary. They would'nt.

Mr. H. is acquainted with Mrs. Ann Harris ( 01323 440147 ) who maintains that Wealden officers have been pursuing a course of malicious conduct against her. Quite clearly such a suggestion would be quite outrageous from Mr. H because as you can see for yourselves from these photographs, his suggestion that Wealden have been party to allowing processing effluent to come onto his land for twenty years is an outrageous slur upon the integrity of competent officers.

There has been a little local difficulty in Wealden's Uckfield ward  where an  alleged former flood plain was built on. It would have been the perfect spot for a car park or a village on stilts. Wealden approved an industrial estate instead, and it ... flooded. Dr. Alan Thompson on 01825 764989 is mapping the extent.

There has been a little more local difficulty just upstream from Pooh Bridge. A new bridge was put across Pippingford Brook, but unfortunately it has altered the channel's characteristics and has promoted flooding. Well so what? Well just that the downstream neighbour, ( who would have pointed out the obvious if he had been consulted which he was'nt, ), finds these floods are wonderously efficient at flushing his carp smoults down the brook. Well the livestock farmers have to put up with BSE and F&M, so if the poor fish farmers don't get a bit of grief they'll feel left out!

If you are lucky enough to own land that is regularly marinaded in  processing effluent, annointed in raw sewage, or ocassionally awarded unattractive water features, please contact Mr. H on 07836 210363. We could meet up, have a jar, and compare samples ( from a safe distance ! ).

Stop Press!!!   Great concitement! Due to the good offices of Cllr. Mrs. Blaxland, Mr. Cudd has written a reasonable letter to Mr. H. saying he is happy to view the video ( 23.ii.01 ). Actually, there are two videos now, because there was another minor spill on  28.ii.01. And Mr. H popped round with his video again on 6.iii.01 to snap a tasty fat&feather burger outside the pumphouse, plus some nice fresh droppings on his land! Surely these faeces could not come from Basil the Rat who has been feasting on fat & featherburgers? Impossible!

A feasty fat and featherburger on 6.iii.01.                                      Basil the Rat's poops just 20M away?
